Here’s your PB&J for dinner, Earl.

In some cultures, the noontime meal is called dinner and the evening meal is called supper.

The “Earl” who lives here does the very same thing. Asks a question and inserts the answer he wants to hear. Claims I said that. I can’t kill him but the thought does cross my mind.

“What’s “supper” anyway? We grew up calling the evening meal “dinner”. Is it something elderly folks eat at 4pm?”.Jesus and 12 others ate the last supper..The meaning varies too greatly to have a definitive single meaning.(It means to you whatever it means to you. It means to others whatever it means to them.).To me, you dine after dark, you sup in sunlight times..For real fun, contemplate “breakfast”.You fast when you don’t eat.When you break your fast, you breakfast. (Yes, it’s also a verb.) .It does not matter what you eat to break your fast.If you break your fast near noon, it still isn’t “lunch” or “brunch”; it’s still breakfast. (Now we’re back to it being a noun again.)

Supper was eating at home. Dinner was if we dined out somewhere (a little more fancy). We usually just had supper.
