This makes me think of an interactive Koan of the Day story where the thing of your choice fails to reach the moon so the moon takes on it’s image out of pity.

Reminds me of the Parisian author (de Maupassant?) who so hated the Eiffel Tower that he took all his lunches in the restaurant in the Eiffel Tower, so he didn’t have to look at it.
