we’ve all (male and female alike) changed our lists. No one is ideal after all. But to change so much on it says this relationship is headed for disaster!
But like Connie, I think Ted probably changed his list for a woman when he started dating Connie. She certainly has issues as well. They make a good couple and deserve each other.
I know nobody’s perfect but I don’t think my list of what I was looking for in a man really changed all that much when I met my husband 23 years ago. I wanted a man who was kind, considerate, thoughtful and smart. He also had to be a non-smoker, a rare alcohol drinker, a dog lover, and good dad material. But most importantly, I wanted someone who wouldn’t cheat on me nor be physically and/or emotionally abusive to me. I got everything on my wish list and more when I met and married my husband so I’ve definitely got no complaints with how my life has turned out so far!!!!!
Yes, but arsmall, Connie doesn’t know that yet. She has no idea what kind of person Ted is. All she has seen so far is the early stage of a relationship. Most people don’t air their faults at that stage. Give her time….
JanCinVV: Yes, the relationship is new but Connie is one of Elly’s best friends. I’m sure she’s heard a thousand times over the years about Ted and his obnoxious behavior … especially when it comes to women!

Her list now reads, warm and breathing. Ted meets those requirements. Not much else.

When I was younger I wanted a guy who was nice, rich, loving and smart.
I had to cross rich off the list.

I still really love the man I met shortly after my divorce- though I no longer consider remarriage an option. He’s still the best lover ever!
