There have been some delightful Mother’s Day strips on today’s comics but this one is very precious. Carmen is the mother figure in this family and her love shines forth in all of her appearances.

Oh my God! Baldo has been raised by Tia Carmen! We now need to know what happened to his Mom. I am relatively new with the strip, but if some of you already know, you can let me know.

Maybe Mom had to work in those days and Tia Carmen became the primary caregiver to the kids. that’s what happened in my family. My wife became surrogate mother to our nieces & nephew.

In the past there have been strips at her grave. Oct ‘08 there was a whole week of lead up and mother’s days past (like http://www.gocomics.com/baldo/2012/05/13 ) there have been mentions of her loss.
