An audit won’t result in fines unless you screwed up (or tried to commit fraud.) Ziggy should be more careful or have a paid tax preparer file for him.

Every time I’ve screwed up my tax return (not trying to fudge) the IRS simply told me I screwed up and on occasion, I had to pay a bit more. More often, they tell me they owed me because I screwed up (they’re always polite).

Ziggy is single, has no children, he doesn’t appear to be employed to the extent that he’d have any business-related expenses.
WHY DOESN’T HE TAKE THE STANDARD DEDUCTION?! You never get audited if you take the standard deduction and your Line 7 matches your W2.
