I did that, and put it together with one of the pieces reversed, scrambled it, and gave it to my friend who knew the solution. He worked on it for quite a while before he figured out I was messing with him.
My dad did that, but he never offered it as a workable solution. He just didn’t like the asymmetry of the scrambled cube. Then he found one that is all yellow. The box said it was a “Rubix Cube for Blondes”.

Oh dad, I suspect you had a lot of those unconventional solutions before you got divorced too. That certainly would explain quite a bit.
