Stephen was just strolling along when he came upon Pulley World, and history was changed forever. He first thought of Scooter, but Scooter bites, so he turned his attention to his trick elbows. They were always shooting off into directions he didn’t ask for. Now they stay where Stephen puts them.
Pulleys are immensely popular on Ballard Street.I believe StelBel even devoted a whole issue of “Ballard Life” to them.
Enthusiasts abound….. and others are easily drawn in….
Stephen, too, soon joined the Pulley Club…. I remember that’s where he met his good friend Neal, and learned the true artistry of pulleywork.
And I remember the night he got to the pulley store 12 minutes too late, and found it already closed, and the displays taken down and put away.
Like fine jewelry, pulleys are far too valuable to leave unguarded in a lit window all night.
Because he saw the artistic side of pulleys, he took a picture of the stark, empty window, to show the members of the pulley club, thinking they would find photographic merit in its haunting, lonely beauty.
Instead, as in the old game called “Telephone,” word of the closed shop spread like wildfire through the pulley community….from ear to lips to ears to lips…until it had become the sad tale of the pulley shop closing forever…
No more pulleys! How could it be???
Such a moaning and wailing arose, that the the next morning, Sheriff MonkeyBlues had to send BatPug out in a special car with a megaphone, slowly cruising along Ballard Street and many side streets…. reassuring everyone that the Pulley Store had, indeed, opened on time for business that day.
Maybe you didn’t notice that you accidentally right-clicked and selected “Undo”, just as you were pasting in the corgi link.
In Firefox that pastes back a previous comment…. but I’m not sure about Chrome. You might try it and see.
Or, if you habitually copy your comment before posting, instead of Ctrl A, Ctrl C to copy your Corgi link, you accidentally hit Ctrl V, and re-pasted the last one.
Neither seem all that likely… especially not noticing before hitting submit…but stranger things have happened! And sometimes to me.
A song plays in the background at Stephen’s place….“Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands.”Followed by…..“Don’t tell me, I’ve nothing to do.”
I have to say, these guys on Ballard Street have brought a lot of attention to pulleys. Something I never thought much about before. I enjoyed your ‘pulley’ story Susan Sunsine.Last Rose – I get those May flowers in my yard.
Mornin’ Ballardeers !Don’t have a lot of time to chit chat right now. I got a cargo of hot unclaimed rum and bananas that I’ve got to smugg clear though customs and get over to the Tiki before the noon lush lunch crowd arrives.
I know all about Stephen and his elbow fetish enthusiasm . I have bent elbows with him a few times at the Tiki.
He actually designed and built a special elbow pulley for those shaky mornings, when getting a glass to one’s lips without spilling, can be a challenge.
Keep a weather eye out and I’ll shall see you all at the Tiki later.

I try to avoid pulleys. They tend to be transporting heavy objects overhead, like pianos or anvils.
