Reminds me of the recitals and plays where the adults sat and chatted through the whole thing about whatever. The worst example was a wedding mass, during which the woman behind me told her friend alll about the remodeling she was doing on her house. Why attend at all?
“Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast.” It may have been a touch of humor to say “beast” at the time, but everybody thinks that’s how it goes now.
Nobody liked to hear the music I loved at that age and time…(I was born late’44)I loved George Shearing. Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Billy May, and so many others…My “Hip” sister Lou worked in a record shop and took most of her pay home in “45’s”Like Schroeder I walked to school whistling "Classics;…My favorite was and still is George Shearings “CarnegieHorizons” – look it up -not to square for a 1st grader…
I just wish I could have lived in these early times. People were more honest, both radio and television had better programming, and you could really spend more time with the family.
Look: if you want to hear something really funny in the way of musical commentary (on Beethoven’s 5th) and have just under nine minutes to spare, go here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0vHpeUO5mw

Well, at least Schroeder got a kick out of it.

Did Schroeder just reboot the system?

This is just like my mom’s boyfriend, but with the television. He just won’t shut up! If only I could kick him out as easily as Schroeder just did.
