Don’t forget Lucy used this tactic on Linus later on: “A man was born, he lived and he died. The end.” Linus, of course, managed to turn the moment into an existential question, but Lucy learned her lessons well.
Maybe Lucy’s running gag with pulling the football away in later strips is her revenge for earlier years when CB would object to reading books to her.
