Lucy, years later: “I counted the days until Christmas, and then the hours, and then the minutes. I counted every minute until Christmas—AND NOW IT’S ALL OVER!”
Time seems to pass more quickly as we get older because we have fewer novel experiences—when we have a novel experience, time seems to ‘slow down’ because our brain is learning the proper responses. Once the brain processes the experience, it automates as many responses to it as possible so that it can save time in the future and not exert precious energy re-processing the whole thing. So…if you want time to slow down again, go do something you’ve never done before, but be aware that it is the brain’s job to actually work as little as possible because it’s also got to run countless background processes (like breathing, heart rate, swallowing, etc) and it’s in your best interests if things aren’t going slowly. :D
