There are lots of reasons to be in the box club, though.
Like, this week, there’s a sale on packing boxes at Office Depot….and they can save money by splitting a dozen, or even a case.
They don’t get sunburned when they attend an event together, unlike some of the men we’ve seen recently on Ballard Street.
They have a great party every year on Boxing Day. Everybody brings lots of food. I think…. cos you never get to see what anybody else brought..but you can hear crunching and slurping.
Unlike some of the other clubs, the Box Club is coed. So… there would be a chance to meet someone with a mutual interest….if there were any social interaction. And as Chester likes to say….“What happens in the box, stays in the box…if anything would only ever happen…in the box.”
I have been asked by several people, who know I live in Ecuador and are aware of the terrible death and destruction that has been ( and still is ) being wrought by the 7.8 earthquake and the many aftershocks.
I those of you who want to assist by cash donations to be very careful of grifters online
There are already numerous false ‘GoFundMe’ sites and scams preying on people who want to help the victims of Ecuador’s earthquake.
One of the best, and safest, ways to donate is to give to Hearts of Gold’s Earthquake Relief Fund. They are an Ecuador based charity, well known and they jumped in to start helping right away. They are sending donations to the victims on a daily. basis.
In addition, if it’s something you want…they are registered as a tax-deductible charity for USA residents who donate. The website link for Hearts of Gold is:http://heartsofgoldfoundation.org/
Even better http://ecuadorlistoysolidario.gestionderiesgos.gob.ec/contribuciones-economicas-en-el-extranjero/ All the information for making a donation directly to the national bank which is making the purchases long term.
Thanks beviek…..Flooding here in Texas is settling down some.Rivers are at crest and providing we don’t get rain for a few days….(another rain event is due next week but will be local in nature)….the rivers should settle. Right now its the Possum Kingdom Dam releasing a boat load of water to keep the dam from failing. That just floods everything down stream. I saw it today up in that area northwest of Fort Worth. As for boxes, we used them one time in this officer survival school as a distraction. We actually got troops to hide in the box and jump up like a jack in the box to shoot.Had them put the box overtop of them and fire out the handle holes. Even shoot from underneath the box. We called it a magical box and would stop bullets. The purpose was to keep your focus on the situations around you and not be distracted. We distracted the heck out of some of them!!
