Appropriate, since when I was junior high age (mid-1960âs) a âMelvinâ was what now is called a âwedgieâ. I donât think I even heard the term âwedgieâ until the 1980âs, but I certainly knew what a âmelvinâ was (not sure if itâs capitalized or not!). Fortunately I was a big kid and never had the dubious honor of the experience.

The weird thing is, I noticed more women complaining about Mary Sues than men, particularly critics. I, for one, am all for female leads in Star Wars.
