My dad was a clergyman, and didn’t smoke or wear neckties, but boy! did he drink coffee. Friends always seemed to give him coffee mugs or cufflinks. Family gave him wine and socks.
Especially if it’s that Corelle Ware. It doesn’t “break” when you finally DO get it to break, it breaks into tiny little shards of white glass that go all over your house, forever!
I have a few mugs but my favorite is from my parents 50th anniversary, nice to know that in this day and age there are still couples that can make it that far.
I’ve got a mug I used to drink out of when I was as young as I can remember…It is a hand painted, ceramic mug that has a little bird perched on the handle, that is actually a whistle, that works great…I used to blow it to have my mom bring me more hot chocolate and marshmallows…“Whistle for your milk.” is written right on it’s side! There are hand painted birds, in relief, on the side. The notes coming out of their beaks are even on a staff, G clef and everything…..But some of the notes are sliding off the scales into the air..Kinda jazzy. It’s really cool….In a display case right now. But every once in a while if you smell chocolate, you may hear that little birdie whistle blowin’…

Weird, I broke a glass mug a couple of days ago. It was a Garfield freebie from McDonald’s. I wonder how long I had it.

My favorite morning coffee mug is always the biggest clean one in the cupboard.
