We had a schnauzer when I was a kid. She would bark her fool head off at some neighborhood cat that would come up to our screen door. Then one day the cat arched his back and hissed, and the dog was almost instantly behind the sofa.

My mini schnauzer puts on a great show of being fearless, until she’s face to face with, well pretty much anything, then you see her real talent. She has the crazy ability to jump straight up into the air and then either sideways or backwards. As soon as she does that, she’s begging for me to pick her up, like a toddler.

Forty years ago, Phyllis Schafly stopped ratification of the ERA in her home state of Illinois. Illinois may soon become the 37th state to ratify it. 38 states are needed for it to become an amendment, but there is a question as to whether the 1982 deadline is constitutional. May head to SCOTUS.
