The good old ‘80s. Two things you don’t see much these days: a phone book and a rotary dial land line phone.

“Let Your Fingers Do the Walking”; the Yellow Pages. Now that is a blast from the past, I can not really remember the last phonebook to be dropped off at my house. I did a quick online search and this is the last reference I had for a phonebook being delivered on the Sun Coast of Florida:

It looks like it must have been printed late 2012, but the guy who did the post might be wrong about the post office dropping it off here in FL, though I do not know about other places. I think the phone company dropped off the books themselves using people from temporary employment service like Manpower who can handle short term jobs like this rather than use regular staff. I remember some guys doing that for Manpower back in the early ’90s.

My cousin still has one, can’t even make a call with it so he has to use the push button phone in the basement. I wanted to get him a cordless modelwith answering to replace it, but he doesn’t want one.

I remember (it was years ago) discovering an actual listing in the Bronx phone book for a surgeon, “Dr. Carnicero”. I believe that “carnicero” is Spanish for “butcher”.

Milo, better have your blood sugar checked. That foot itch could be a sign of diabetic neuropathy.

Telephone book choice—it’s like playing the lottery. Most of the time, you lose….
