I was going to say that cats would not be subject to treason laws but there was at least one case where one was. In WWI during the Christmas truce a cat who had been adopted by both German and British soldiers was used to send amiable messages back and forth across the lines. The cat was eventually executed by the British High Command for, you guessed it, treason.
