According to Business Insider the tuition cost at Harvard in 1987 (when the October Crash occurred and when this comic first ran) was $11,040. With Room and Board the total cost was $16,145. $11,000 in 1987 is the equivalent of $30,536 today. The tuition cost to attend Harvard today is $54,269.
