Jeez Oliver. Galileo was launched in 1989 and it bopped around Jupiter for 14 years. So was Magellan, which mapped Venus through the clouds. And, spoiler alert, the USSR will be gone in two years
Gods help us if it was true. “Ishtar” was beyond a bad movie. It ranks in my book as the most colossal waste of time in my life. Even beyond some terrible classes I had to take.
The strip is dated 23 Jan ’88. The Challenger had gone down 28 Jan ’86 – two years minus five days before this strip – and another shuttle would not launch for eight months. (The Soviets were not, of course, really planning on sending people to Mars in 1990)
This strip is obviously rwnj propanganda. Ishtar was written and directed by a woman, which they hate and want to unalive, every single of them.
The first movie to be written by a woman, and also the first movie directed by a woman.
Not to mention the first movie written and directed by a woman in 1987, the first movie written and directed by a woman starring Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman, and also the first movie written and directed by a woman to be a box office bomb both ever, and in 1987.
Beatty and Hoffman were also gay in the movie, so no wonder the MAGAts HATE IT FOREVER!

Oh, and Opus? Instead of waving your hands/ wings at the tv and shushing it, why don’t you—I don’t know—try turning it off‽
