The incoming administration is sure it can cut $2 Trillion from the budget. The people in charge of that are silicon valley $ Billionaires, they think that milk, bread, vegetables all come from the store. Farmers, ranchers and such are “little people” in ‘Fly Over’ states. Say good bye to your subsidies (they will be cut), say good bye to your workforce (they will be deported).
It’s true that farmers can receive subsidies – it’s also true that farming is heavily regulated. So, let’s take away both of them if true independence is the desired outcome.
My farmer grandpa once told about a guy that won the lottery of $50K! Back when $50K was a lot of money, he said. The guy was also a farmer and when he was asked what he was gonna do with the money, he said he was just gonna go on farming until he used it all up…
Leaving out the massive complexities of running a working farm the expenses, even with aid, suck up most of the profit. A good year is when you can add to the emergency fund.

Why are farmers buried only 2 feet deep?
So they can still have their hand out…

The government like your local drug dealer gives everyone a taste. In this case it’s money, and they are hooked.
