There’s something wrong with this picture. Neal would never be that industrious………..

Does this strip actually have different characters each day or do they use the same ones and just give them different names?

They always look pretty much the same to me.

Nice touch Neal. I mean you could have done a mermaid, or a Disney character, but no. It’s Neal taking a nap. Well, it’s your garden.

O…KAY, Nighthawks. Did this come to you in a dream, perhaps? And you expect us to interpret? Well alright, but it will be $175 per hour.

    Ooooh… look, everybody!

We’re here, of course, to comment on

the August 23rd  2020 “CLEO and COMPANY”

    on Sherpa…

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

But I don’t really know what to say.

Um… Clara is right… it is something different….

but… is it spooky? Is it… possible??

Was Nighthawks talking to himself, above, when he said “This is your brain on drugs?”

    Cos… you know… I lead a boring life…

I don’t do any drugs… or go to any parties where people do drugs…

so I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of one that makes a person see a horned basset hound, wearing what might be a Chinese acrobat costume…

    riding… OK… standing on… what looks like a one-eyed flying bat(!)

    I do eat dinner late…

    could this be indigestion?

    Or did I fall asleep??

    YEAH! That must be it!

    SUSAN!!!…. SUSAN!!!!

    WAKE UP!!

    Um… nope.

    It’s still there.

    MOMMY?!!!

It may have been the cold medicine.

Anyways – The Cliffords had asked Cleo not to purchase that Sherman tank she had her heart set on.

She found that one-eyed, not anymore one-horned or purpl(i)e people eater in a retirement home for elderly rock-and-roll musicians, hired him and hitched a ride in the moonlight to – borrow that tank. It’s parked in the street.

How much did Cleo pay for it and how many kids in the neighborhood are now going to want one for themselves?

    Okaaaay… nope… it wasn’t me…

    It’s still there.

    Cleo. Bat. Wings. Fangs.

    Yup.

Meanwhile… being a haircutter by trade (among other things) …

I can’t help looking at lawn-mound Neal (II), above, and thinking how fitting he looks for these quarantine days… …

When most people haven’t had a haircut in months.

The difficulty of mowing the sculpture represents the difficulty of getting to a salon or a barbershop right now.

And BTW…. NO…. I don’t think stylists and barbers who don’t want to come back to work to cut your hair are being unfair, even if you promise to wear a mask.

Masks leak! Cotton ones, or disposable “surgical”-but-not-really-surgical ones… the sides are not sealed at all.

I don’t work in a salon any more but I still have a few clients, waiting for me… one quite impatiently.

I’ve told them … yes I do need the work… but no.

It’s one thing to be 6 feet away from you in a mask, looking straight on, when we run into each other at Costco…

Quite another to stand right over all sides of your head, for half an hour… or even 15 minutes…

maybe even having to adjust the mask to trim near your ears, or whatever.

Some people stand over the heads of a couple dozen people, mostly strangers, during each day in the salon.

    I worry about them.

Tip them well, if they’re willing to do it.

    I’m not.

    Sorry, but not sorry.

    Meanwhile….

JP Steve… can you come to this picnic?

Good Morning Ballardeers and Mr Hawks! Q-date 163.98243.53 and the humid is rising.

Thank goodness y’all saw the same thing I did. For a bit I thought I was having a flashback from the 60’s. A little Sgt. Pepper and a lot of “B” movie combined with a batty basset.

Y’all keep yourselves happy. There’s not enough goofy stuff out there. (((((HUGS!)))))

Cleo is just exhibiting more of her acrobatic skills. Now the bat, on the other hand………… One eye? No wonder they have to use sonar to see at night.
