sandfan: TV signals are RF and propagate in all directions from the transmitter. When the moonâs overhead, thereâs a line of sight from the transmitter, so the signals will reach the moon. Of course, theyâll be a lot weakerâTV signals on earth only travel about 50-100 miles, tops, so on the moon theyâll be attenuated by a factor of maybe ten million or so (inverse square law and all that). But they will be there, and with a large antenna (think the dishes in the California desert that pick up the signals from space probes out by Saturn) and a big honkinâ amplifier, itâs not only possible, itâs pretty straightforward.

I see it now; they use the death ray to force the people of Earth to give them free cable, complete with unscrambled porn channels! Itâs brilliant!
