I’m with Adam. Who needs radishes? What are they good for? Nothing, in my world.

Radishes are fantastic if you make a cream cheese dip with a little bit of curry powder and dip the sliced radishes in it. It tempers that “spicy” flavor and makes them really stand out.

If you are diabetic, they make a great substitute for red potatoes in cooking. They are very low in carbohydrates and will not raise your blood sugar like potatoes do. I use them in stew, pot pies, etc.

Nothing beats a radish straight from the garden. I love ‘em! Which reminds me – I’ve got to get mine planted.

I have never tried cooking radishes, but I found quite by accident, that fresh raw radishes as a snack aid digestion for people, like myself, who suffer from disorders such as Colitis, or Crohn’s

Take a Ritz cracker. Put on one slice of cheddar cheese, a thin slice of radish, a slice of jalapeno pepper, and half a cherry tomato. Pop in your mouth. Repeat.

Radishes separate the men from the boys :-)

But seriously, radishes are a great gift from nature. The next time you have a cold and/or sore throat, try some raw radish. They clear sinuses and soothe soar throats very effectively. They are naturally cooling, high on vitamin C and antioxidants, help in digestion, and are very low on calories.

And don’t cook them – they are salads! Best way to eat them, is to wash thoroughly (they are roots), slice them thinly (skin on), sprinkle salt and lime juice, and wowsa!

My wife makes a meal of them by adding grated ginger, minced onions and a little pepper, but that’s only if you want it really tasty…

If you have a radish, I believe there is an ointment you can use to clear it up…

A radish by itself … meh. With a dash of salt, pretty good—a completely different taste than you’d expect without the salt. Still, not so wonderful that I’d go to the trouble of growing or shopping for them.

Nothing to do with today’s strip, but I thought I’d tell my fellow Adam fans: Jeff Dunham, the ventriloquist, is looking for a powerful coffee, so I suggested Doc Toon’s World Famous Nuclear Coffee. “I kill you!”

I LOVE radishes, just raw, not sliced, with LOTS of salt on them! And there are so many different kinds, shapes and colors to them now if you plant your own. And they add a nice touch to salads as well.

I never had much use for radishes… until I learned to enjoy them with street-vendor-style tacos. Now I know why they’re so plentiful at mexican markets. Their juicy crispness with a mild spicy kick perfectly balances the heaviness of the meat and tortillas, especially when you drizzle them with lemon and a dash of salt. I want to experiment and see how they interact with other rich foods. And I bet fresh-grown ones taste even better.
