Transcript:
"Adam@Home presents: Spider Week!!" Adam: I think we have a spider problem. Laura: In the bathroom? Adam: Shelob's lair is being re-created in our shower. Laura: Wait-does that make me Samwise to your Frodo? It's not still in there, is it? You did take care of it before running out here? Adam: Everything is under control. What? A job like this requires professionals!

Usually my wife just screams. I keep trying to tell her the spiders are good for us in that they eat the mosquitos and such, but she insists that I kill them.

My rule of thumb: Outside - itâs their home and I leave them alone unless they try to bite me (i.e. mosquitos). However, once they invate MY home - theyâre doomed!!!!

They donât pay rent, so if they are in my house, they die.

I have to love a comic that makes Tolkien references!

Wait, isnât Aragog a more modern reference that they could have slipped in here? I guess itâs showing that I never finished reading the LOTR when I was in high schoolâŠ

Oh boy! A whole week of spiders! I can feel my phobia starting to activate.
(Actually, while spiders creep me out a bit, I do try to catch them in a jar and move them outside. But please donât crawl on me! (shudder)

Is it a âdaddy-longleggsâ or a âbrown-recluseâ spider?
Do not confuse the two⊠one is harmless and the other is deadly!

I consider the spiders that live in my⊠I mean our house as free-range pets. Although, seeing as how they eat mosquitoes, maybe that makes them more like farm animals.
I do clean off old dusty cobwebs, of course.

camelsamba, itâs not just âcurrentâ references that count, itâs âfamiliarâ ones. I think more younger people are going to recognize the spider from âLord of the Ringsâ than older people would recognize one from Harry Potter. If it were Clayton speaking the line rather than Adam, perhaps âAragogâ would have been in characterâŠ

^Well, weâve got a whole week of spiders, so Iâm expecting references to Aragog as well as Charlotte and Spiderman.
Doc, a hearty congratulations!

Maybe Spider Murphy will show up and blow some tenor saxophone? I wanna hear that rocked-out jailbird swing!
(Spider Stacy on a tin-whistle would be even cooler, but even more obscureâŠ)
