Chalkie is a bit of a patsy

Many years ago, when I was working in the film industry, and living in Ireland,Dublin, was like a small town. Everybody who had anything to do with film, television or theatre knew everybody else an the business.

We all hung out in the same pubs and news (or rumor) of a potential job spread quickly.

If I got signed onto a picture or had a commercial gig, I did my best to get my friends hired on, as well.

This was not done for purely altruistic reasons. You knew that if you got your mates work, chances are that they’d be able to pay you back for all the drinks they caged and kept them from borrowing money from you, because you had a job !

Even the Publicans and Bartenders would give you job leads. Probably in the hopes that you’d be able to finally pay off your bar tab.

See? I told you Chalkie worked!

But never knew it was in a factory. Interesting.
