Hm,well, wow.Looks like you finally brought someone over to your Dark Side ,Nabuquduriuzhur.Hope both of you will be happy together in your intellectual vacuum.
It’s sad how people don’t realize how important the predators are to the environment. and how important the environment is to all life, even humans. I think Shtinky from Mutts wouldn’t mind helping those Wolves if they wouldn’t mind helping spread the message about helping Tigers.
Right, Nab — what about the prevalence of Chronic Wasting Disease? Maybe a few more wolves taking out the sick and weak in a herd would help out with that.
It’s normal canine behaviour to overkill – domestic dogs do it too. However intelligent they may be, few dogs (except the brightest poodles and Border collies) have anything like human understanding so they don’t really realise that other living things have feelings – indeed many humans don’t understand this either. To a canine sheep or chickens are an exciting toy and when they find themselves surrounded by them and they aren’t going away (because the canine doesn’t really understand about man-made barriers which prevent the prey from fleeing) they get over-excited and run about biting. Plus, canines are willing to eat very old carrion, so when they kill more sheep or chickens than they can immediately eat, for them that’s OK, they’ll get around to the rest as it decays, and won’t have to hunt again for a month.
Humans also overkill, of course. During the 18th or 19th C (I forget which) in England a popular tourist attraction was to get in a boat, sail through a cave full of inedible seabirds and just blast away at them for the fun of seeing them topple out of their nests.

Bravo, Nab. Clear-eyed analysis takes down the pc environmentalists. Too few of your view in positions of control.

I wish we had a few more predators for the overpopulated deer in our garden. In the park up the street they are killing the trees.

What? PETA and the Sierra Club aren’t enough? Did anyone ever consider that animals are going extinct because they are no longer needed?
