I was sitting on the patio with a neighbor. He got a text and started texting back and forth with his daughter. I assumed she wasn’t home. Nope, she opened the kitchen door, probably 10 to 15 away, and they continued texting!I have an elderly friend (I’m older), that uses hearing aids.He got some kind of device that he wears on a neck strap to allow him to converse via his iPhone. Yep, you can hear the conversation all over the restaurant.
I was at a restaurant with a friend and he pointed it out. Since then I’ve noticed that people sit down and out comes the phone. I expect that in the future they will be implanted in babies for life.
I used to call my oldest grandson a “screenager” because he was either glued to the computer or his mobile devices.
Unfortunately, the phenomenon is worldwide. I have attended gatherings and been in restaurants where everybody is riveted to their phones, iPads or Tablets… They are all developing permanent shoulder hunches and bent necks from texting.

I expect we’ve raised a generation of mutes. They have no want to or reason to talk.

Talking gets something texting does not, that is, lots of gigglebytes in real time! :-)

The textsters wouldn’t even be in Roz Diner if they had used their thumbs to check it out on Yelp first
