BBC host Lindsay Russell ran more than 10 hours in an inflatable ball floating on the Irish Sea! What? Traffic lights were invented before cars! The London Underground has its own distinct sub species of mosquito- Culex Pipiens Molestus!
The first traffic light was in London in 1868 for street traffic outside of Parliament..The first traffic light specifically designed for automobile traffice was by a police officer in Salt Lake City in 1912.
Garrett Morgan changed them to the Red (top), Yellow, Green (bottom) aspects used today. That was some 10 years after the first electric lights mentioned by others.
