It’s like a war zone in my neighborhood.And all fireworks are illegal in my city.

Same here. Illegal. But so is driving 50 in a 25. Or letting the dog run loose when we have leash laws. Must be terrorists since they have no regard for the law or any body else’s rights. Like the right to peace and quiet.

I am so lucky to live in a small rural town where the only fireworks I hear and see is the show put on at the local airport by the volunteer fire department.

It started on the 2nd.It won’t end until all the @#$%&s are out of their illegal explosives.

People here had to “warm up” in June, and some will still be set off as late as September. We have big beautiful trees with many overhanging branches, a tiny “safe” window, and middle aged guys with beer letting kids light fuses before the night is through. And, we’re talking the big multicolored ones, the umbrella arched sparkly ones. The ones that families combine resources to buy. With massive, beautiful, professional fireworks displays all around us, from the 2nd to the 4th, at least. Man. Who knew being “grown up” would feel this cranky?;-)

We had a lightening storm (no rain) all night but that didn’t stop the fireworks from going off all night long too. We let off a box of those tiny white poppers and called it a night when I saw lightening.

I guess what I was missing was alcohol. That’s the only reason I can see why people would insist on continuing with their fireworks during a storm!

Unfortunately, we had the noisiest, most incessant home fireworks usage in our neighborhood this year that I have ever seen. I just do not understand the appeal of the very large, loud noise making devices. There are plenty of fireworks that are quite large and beautiful… but not so damn loud like gunshots. The noise of the damn things traumatizes little babies and dogs and cats in the neighborhood and gets a lot of folks very tense as well. To me, fireworks are best left to professionals for a community display. But… if people have to have their own, it would be so much kinder and nicer to have ones that focus on the light show and not on just being obnoxious noise. My own and my own family’s extent of indulging in fireworks is sparklers and snakes.

October? Just in time for Halloween?

I’m in a bit of a quandary — I agree that the noise, danger, and ignorance of the law is a major problem — but on the other hand, our city permits “safe and sane” fireworks sales June 29-July 4. The stands are run (manned 24/7 btw) by local volunteer organizations, many involving community groups (like the youth football group I’m associated with) that represent the major fund raiser for the year. Our profit margin brings in about 40% of our annual budget. Without it, there would be no program.

It’s fun for the kids. Especially if they were never allowed to ride in an ambulance car before.

Yeah, the guns are too much. There’s a guy here in the hospital from getting hit in the head with a falling bullet.

So drama. Much excite.
