About 8 yrs ago we found a young cat in our yard. She was gorgeous and very friendly. We took her in and long story short, a couple in the neighborhood adopted her. They loved her to pieces. The wife died a few months ago and I kept hoping the husband would keep Mimi.
He just called and said he was moving to NC. My first thought was “He’s getting rid of Mimi.” Nope. He needs advice.
He sold his home here and will stay with neighbors for 2 weeks until he leaves for NC. Once there, he will stay with his sister for about a month until his new home is ready. It’s under construction.
He wanted to know if all of this moving will traumatize Mimi.I said she will be more traumatized if you give her away. He does not want to do that, he just wants to know how to make her comfortable and feel safe.
I told him:
1. Keep her in your room when your stay with your friends. They have a male cat and have been together and ignore each other, which is good. But just to be safe, try to keep her in your room.
2. Get a good traveling cage that will hold a litter box, food and water. He has an SUV and the seat folds down so there is plenty of room.
3. Talk to the vet (he uses one I use) about tranquilizers. Some vets don’t recommend them, some do.
4. When he gets to his sisters’ place, again, keep Mimi in his room. Right now, Mimi is used to going out on the patio each morning for about 45 min. I told him it’s not safe during all of this moving around. And, once she is used to NOT going out, she might be fine inside when he movies into his new home.
I told him I was worried he wanted to get rid of her and he said NO, he loves Mimi and Mimi has now bonded to him. Before, she was bonded to his wife.
Can anyone recommend a good traveling cage? I told him I would do some research for him. And, any suggestions on how to keep Mimi calm during all of this moving would be welcome. She’s a pretty mellow kitty anyway.
Does anyone know a good online source for medical use eye patches? Our local drugstores only have the cheap ones that either warp out of shape quickly or the strap breaks in no time flat. I have to wear one at night as my eyelids don’t shut from the palsy and these cheap ones are driving me crazy. Thanks
I’m so angry I could spit nails! Susan called and said shefelt she “had” to tell Linda what happened. I was told I had to take them to the shelter. The idiot woman was there this morning looking for them. I said NO. Someone could come here and get them.
Linda just left. She told me I could get into trouble. It was called “…harboring…” or some such nonsense.
People here treat animals like *&&% and I"M the one who could be in trouble?? Someone, please explain this to me so it makes sense.
If that man had not found them when he did, they would be dead by now. They left for a trip to Mexico later that night and the garage is closed up tight.
Linda said this idiot keeps them in her garage. That’s how they get out. Grrrr….
I’m not going to read/comment on the strip for a couple of days, the Linda/kittens situation has seriously annoyed me, and as there are other things (in my life) that are also causing me stress, then I might end up posting something that I’ll either regret, or will get me banned.
I’ll return once I’ve sorted some things out and calmed down a bit.

This reminded me of today’s sheltered college kids and their “safe zones” where free speech is suppressed.

I’d break into that garage and grab those little ones. Am very upset now.
