Promise Mom you’ll die quickly.

No, Calvin will live long enough to put his mom into a nursing home.

Whenever we asked to play in the rain my mother would say, “You can do that when it’s a warm rain.” Only a few years ago I realised she would never have said rain was warm enough to play in.

Calvin’s mom doesn’t seem worried about the possiblity of pneumonia, but about the possibility of “terrible bills.”

Just let the kid play in the rain, sheesh. You can’t get sick from being wet. This is an example of how parents fail; there’s no rational reason he shouldn’t play in the rain, but she doesn’t want to deal with wet clothes so she says no.
