    This explains a lot. I guess that after taking down a tartan mammoth, turning its fur into a skirt seemed perfectly normal by comparison. This still does not explain where the bagpipe idea came from.

    But why turn it into a skirt?

    That tartan appears to be something called Cooper Modern, according to tartanweb.org.

    SHEIK - that would certainly help with hitting the high notes.
