Dad: Hey kiddo! Phoebe: Hey Mom! Hey Dad! Dad: You don't look startled. Phoebe: You shaved off your beard while I was at camp last year. Now I've had a year to get jaded about the whole thing. Dad: I tried to get your mother to shave half her head. Mom: Didn't feel worth it.

How’s Dad going to look clean shaven AND with no ponytail? Not to mention Mom without glasses (either by switching to contact lenses or having L.A.S.I.K.

True story: I once had the right side of my beard shaved off, in public, on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, as part of a radio stunt. Got free airline tickets for it, so my wife and I went on a second honeymoon to California. The bad news is: the airline was Eastern, which went out of business when we were on the West Coast. True story.
