Like the old saying goes: It’s not the fall that hurts you, it’s that sudden stop at the bottom.
This reminds me of a Judge Dredd story where he falls off a high walkway in the mega-city and has time to radio for help, stop a mugging (and shoot the mugger) and make another radio call, all while falling, and he’s still nowhere near hitting the ground when the “hover-wagon” arrives to catch him.

What is the terminal velocity for a cat, anyway?
Answer: It doesn’t matter: terminal is terminal.

I’ve had falling dreams. I always wake up with a start like I’ve fallen from a great height.
It’s pretty bad.
