Miss Plainwell: You know that granola bar isn't as healthy as they'd have you think. Caulfield: I do know. Sometimes when the truth's not so palatable, there's room for the tasty fib. Miss Plainwell: I'm not sure I like that truism. Caulfield: I know an alternative.

A tasty fib Newton perhaps?

Hey, I fib to myself all the time. Otherwise, my favorite blueberry pie, chocolate fudge cake and slurpy, cheesy thin-crusted pizza with assorted tasty meats and mushrooms atop would never cross these lips! Fortunately the “there-are-no-calories-in-this” downright self-delusion will open up that highway to hell!

I like jam on my bread – that’s fruit, right? And ice cream- well there is a little bit of dairy product in that..And Coke helps my digestion. So sure, I’m with Caufield. Enjoy!

I labor under no misconceptions: the granola bars I prefer contain chocolate chips.

“Tasty Fib” sounds like a great name for a cookie! Perhaps oatmeal with chocolate chips.
