Cathy: I meant to stop by! Charlene (voice from phone): I was going to write a note! Cathy: Lunch? Charlene (voice from phone): Yes! Irving: Why do you care so much about the friends you never see or speak to? Cathy: We're the only ones who really understand each other.

I agree. My best friend and I may not talk for months sometimes, but as soon as we get on the phone, it’s like it was yesterday.

I agree - if you’re ultra busy, you can best relate to other ultra-busy people! And if they’re your best friends, even better. This is definitely me too.

I have lovely long chats with one DIL who lives in another state. She also visited while on business here last year (without my son and the kids) and we were up talking til very late.

Yes, this is more like the old Cathy. I always thought it was weird that we never saw what happened to Charlene and the baby that never materialized. Instead all we got to see were more bathing suits, technology and the tax man.
