Whoever colored in this strip failed to note that not only is Grog’s mug not empty, but that cream soda is usually much darker - most often the same color as root beer or cola. That mug looks like recycled beer.
Good morning, Cavers! p.s. the reason so many posts have been deleted this week is due to the long “hellos” by name. Someone obviously doesn’t like that.
Just because people don’t like the personal hellos, doesn’t mean the rest of us have to have our comments deleted given there’s nothing offensive about them… sigh Anyways…
Good Morning BC’ers!!!
Grog: I think Johanan did a good job with that new profile pic! :D
To the flagger of our greetings:
I have been a member of GoComics for just under a year and in that time I have found a group of people who have been friendly and accepted me with out knowing anything about me. Here we are all the same. There is is prejudice based on race, nationality, religion, politics or gender. I believe that I have become friends with many of the people here. I like reading their comments and jokes and a lot of mornings, their “Hellos” give me a smile. I like wishing them Happy Birthdays and asking about vacations they had. It is what makes this site fun. Maybe if you joined in on the Good Mornings it would brighten your day too. As for me, I am not going to stop wishing my friends here a good morning because you don’t like it. We do.
Been here long enough to note that some think this is a social site and some think it’s merely a place to read comics. And there are swings between both extremes. No one in the “office” has ever defined it one way or the other. I suspect people feel left out of the ‘conversation” (Which i sometimes do) but I know that rudeness is a common internet habit. You have to have a very fragile ego to be hurt by being ignored. I hope they can get over the “snubs” and realize there’s nothing personal intended. It’s just the bad habits of netters.
The reason (this time) that the hair color differs in the second panel is that there is confusion of perspective. Who is Grog burping at, B.C. or Thor? If it’s B.C., why is there an end-on view of the bar, square in cross-section? And if it’s Thor, why does his hat mysteriously reappear in Panel 3 (unless, of course, he puts it back on between frames)?
The facial proportions are not completely decisive either, but on the whole I’d guess Panel 2 is B.C., not Thor.
I don’t recall Johnny Hart ever making these kind of mistakes, although confessedly I wasn’t exactly looking for them in the old days. The same category of problem keeps cropping up in The Wizard of Id these days. Maybe I should find some old collections and make myself a tad less cynical… or (hopefully not) more so…
Pseudonymous,
I asked a question, I did not try to tell you what to do. The commentors who greet each other all comment on the strip on a regular basis. We usually separate our greetings with a blank line, it is easy enough to skip the greeting and read the comments.
I personally think greetings make the comments more friendly. In the About GoComics section you will find that GoComics refers to their site as a “comics-loving community” to me that implies it is okay that we talk to each other in a friendly manner.

Cheeze! What’s wrong with people saying good morning to one another? Just skip over them if you don’t care to read or participate. Cheeze!

Just Tink, @ 20, I think hiccups might be more of an issue.

In the words of George Carlin:
“I don’t want to have a good day! I want to have a crappy day!”
By the way, good morning to everyone (good afternoon if you’re on the other side of the pond)
