Breaking Cat News by Georgia Dunn for January 06, 2017
Transcript:
Lupin: The Toddler is sick. Elvis: Lupin, it's important to remember Toddlers are mostly just peanut butter and germs to begin with. Puck: And popsicles. Lupin: Puck! Get out of there! It's not safe! Puck: Don't be ridiculous. He needs me. Toddler: Mow mow. Elvis: Sticky fingers, sneezing in your face, boogers everywhere-and that's at 100% health. When a toddler gets sick, the germ levels are off the chart. Puck: I don't care, Elvis. I can save him. Woman: Awww, is your friend Pucky keeping you company? Toddler: Mow, mow, mow, mow, mow, mow. Puck: Though you may be little, even now you have the power within you to be...the biggest spoon! Elvis: I don't care how inspiring this is, I'm not going near them.

Very wise, Elvis. My wife works in child care, and is always picking up germs from the children. I tell her to dunk them in a vat of Dettol as soon as they arrive, but she says she’s not allowed to.
But it is a cat’s duty to keep sick people company, and they certainly have curative properties. And wearing a biohazard hood messes up your hair. (Frame 7.5)

I remember reading that Public Schools, Prisons, and Military Barracks are the best breeding grounds for disease on Earth. As I recall, I couldn’t tell the difference at that age anyway.

I just adore this one . . . Everyone has the power within them to be the biggest spoon. Awww! :-) Pucky’s a darling.

This is so sweet and so cute, cats have a way of being there for their humans.Does the Toddler have a name?good generic names, like J for the boy and the baby, K, CiCi, GiGi or MiMi?So darling that Puck can let him be the Biggest Spoon.

I assume that the pink eye reference in panel one is a clue to what the toddler has. Too bad. If it was a cold, the cats could rest easy since as I understand it human colds and feline colds are completely different viruses and neither can catch the infection of the other.
.
Then too, I’m reminded of the news stories about ten years ago about Oscar, the nursing home cat who had an uncanny ability to identify when the residents were about to die. One theory was that the most seriously ill ones had high fevers which Oscar used to find the warmest bed to sleep on.

Cats are the best comforters when you are sick. You know whenyou are well when they ignore you.

We had a beautiful Ragdoll cat that when I had my knees replaced used to lay on my legs and keep them cozy. I loved every minute of her attention. When I was healed she developed stomach cancer and died within a month. She knew she had to live for me to recover, then she was free to go to the Rainbow Bridge and wait for me to come to her.

Love the boys biohazard suits and even the mikes are covered though pink eye doesn’t require that level of protection there boys. I’ve had to wear similar head gear and it is truly uncomfortable and you always end up with bad hair like Puck

This is one of my all time favorites. Plastic covered microphones, air hoses to the biohazard suits, Pucky with “hood fur”, the explanation that toddlers are mostly peanut butter and germs. Classic Dunn, as we say at my house, now that she has pioneered her own niche.

Forgot to mention, is that a plastic covered mug on the news desk ? And Puck in meatloaf position in his biohazard suit.

I share your pain, toddler. I am just getting over pinkeye, three more days of drops. I got it the way most kids probably do, got a mild upper respiratory infection and must have gotten a little careless with kleenex and fingers.

What a thoughtful gesture from Puck—and fun visuals on everyone else. This one made me smile.
