You rang, sir? I give up, Jarvis. I need you to return Freddy... But your father's ban on stuffies? He need never know. And you must promise not to tell... I promise, sir. But what if your father comes to say good night and spots Freddy? Last time in living memory father said good night was April 2, 2014... He was in an unusually charitable mood following the McCutcheon V. FEC Supreme Court ruling. Good point, sir.

As much as I don’t like this kid, I do feel sorry for him. At least Jarvis is a devoted and trustful friend.

Ah, yes. McCutcheon ! The latest in a long line of awful Supreme Court decisions equating artificial entities with actual human beings, dating back to the fraud perpetrated by the head note for Santa Clara v. Southern Pacific (1886) and reaching its illogical apotheosis with Citizens United v. FEC in 2010, which included Justice Anthony Kennedy’s fatuous observation that unlimited amounts of big, dark money in politics will lead to “neither corruption nor the appearance of corruption”. Who elected these guys anyway? (Oh, that’s right. They never had to run for office; they were all appointed.)

Synchronicity: This week’s premiere of Bull on TV involved this same kind of “father” and son.

Except he’s not hateful, poor kid, he’s just been raised that way. He could see for example that it was wrong that native islanders didn’t have access to their own beeches, but he let himself be talked out of it. He needs to go to a good school that teaches social responsibility.
