The vote scanner companies seem to mostly be owned by conservatives, and there has been evidence of them not arriving “clean”.

Within a couple hours, of Pacific time zone polls closing, the national results are announced nationwide – not “projected winners”, but the official results. The individual ballots are still preserved in case of any problems. Recounts are rare because over a hundred witnessed the original count and have their own record.
