I remember the first airing because my father was super interested in watching it. It was sometime in second year that I could actually read the credits… and it was shocking to realize that was writing… what a flashback.
1966.Does it really make you old to remember a show from 1966??!Gosh….I don’t look or feel like I’m in the Mrs. J. demographic…but I guess suddenly I’m ancient.Sniffle.
Didn`t see it over here until 1969. I watched the first episode at my Gran`s, which was lucky, `cos she was the only one of the family to have a colour TV back then…
I remember talking about it while waiting for the school bus the next day. We thought it was different but weren’t sure. It was only later when Spock and Scottie won us over that we liked it. I never got to like Kirk….
I was 24 at the time and I thought it was stupid. Yes, it had great F/X, but the dialogue was juvenile. I then bought the book thinking it would be better, but I was wrong. What a waste of time and money. I have never watched another Star Wars movie since. Give me a Star Trek movie any time!
My older brother was a Star Trek fan from the beginning. He didn’t wait, like many others, until it was cancelled and in repeats. No one said ‘Trekkies’ or ‘Trekkers’ then. He just picked up on it right away, and still loves it.
Had given up in disgust on “Lost in Space”. So when my brother told me I had to watch this new show, “Star Trek”, I gave him a sour look and said, “Science fiction on TV?!”
I first watched “Star Trek” in the early 1970s, in the early days of the show’s syndication runs. It remains the best of all the various Star Trek TV shows and movies.
I remember watching the first run episodes of Star Trek at my neighbor’s house. My friend’s Dad wanted to watch it. MY Dad wouldn’t allow it. He hated Sci-Fi.In those days, there was only one TV/ household (usually) and we watched what my parents wanted to watch. (Sigh!)
I was 11 when Star Trek first came out, and the first season we got it in El Centro at nine o’clock and my folks wouldn’t let me stay up to watch it… Now we are following the original Star Trek, Star Trek Next Generation, and Deep Space Nine on the Heroes and Icons channel.
Heck I remember Sgt Preston of the Yukon on the radio. No one had TV when I was a kid. Missed Star Trek I was stationed overseas but made up for it when I got back.

I am an original Star Trek Fan! First saw it when I was five (in 1966)! Right now, I’m watching the Star Trek marathon on the BBC in America!
