I have been unable to find references to more than 13 species extinguished by humans. Allowing there may be as many as a hundred, that is far short of the species that have simply died out in our time, often in spite of our attempts to save them. We still don’t know why most species become endangered – we focus on the ones we have affected to some extent but others are dying when we find them. The ivory billed woodpecker is just vanishing and nobody knows why.

@flagmichael: the number isn’t known. Changes to habitats – acidification of waters, deforestation, etc. have led to extinction as surely as pulling the trigger.

One group that we haven’t quite figured out how to eliminate is the HUMAN race, but worry not, we’re working on it!

Sort of a weak joke, considering that species have been going extinct for millions of years, and mankind’s rise to prominence is a late development of the last 10,000 years or so. Given enough time, every species ever conceived will go extinct, with or without man’s influence.

There are currently more than 8 million species on the Earth that are doing just fine. Man’s negative impact is miniscule if you look at the bigger picture.

There have been – and still are – species that have never been discovered and have gone extinct, and Mankind doesn’t even know about them….and there are new species found just about every year….

So, not only do we get false liberal narratives in our news, social media and magazines, we now have to deal with it in non- political cartoons?

Nunya and Sunflower, there’s a 100% certainty that the human race will become extinct, just like every species before us has. We are programmed to procreate, just like every other species, so it’s doubtful that we’ll cause our own extinction, but it will happen regardless. And the planet will continue churning out new species, subducting continents and creating new landmasses, absorbing carbon and creating its own atmosphere; we will not be missed. So we might as well stop feeling bad about being human, and using natural resources. Once we are gone, the planet will take back everything we’ve borrowed and recycle it.
