It should never end. Everyone should be on the lookout that their rights are respected and not taken away. Especially with our new governmental surveillance apparatus. I shudder to think what Hoover or McCarthy could do with what we have today.
Yes, there was serious injustice done to many ethnic and religious factions. You take much longer to heal if you keep picking at scabs. Healing takes even longer (like forever) when politicians and so-called religious leaders use negative emotions to build and maintain their power.
70% of those arrested in Charlotte were from out of state. There is a federal law about crossing state lines to riot/loot.Fat chance they will be prosecuted though.
Trump wants to drag the country backwards and institutionalize racism even more than it is. Trump discriminates against race creed and religion, and that is unamerican. Trump wants the unconstitutional Stop and Frisk program in already oppressed minority communities. And there are a lot of greedy selfish fascist idiots who support Trump.
The good news is that discrimination against black people is on the decline. The bad news it’s being replaced with hatred of foreigners, people of the “wrong” religion and those with an “immoral” sexual orientation.
I guess people are capable of only so much hate, so they have to “spread it around” like manure.
Remember Shelby County v. Holder? When attorneys general from southern states convinced the Supreme Court they could overturn a big chunk of the Voting Rights Act because segregation was so long ago that southern states would never try to limit black people’s voting rights? And then southern states passed laws to restrict black people’s voting rights the very same day the Supreme Court handed down it’s ruling?

yes, obey the laws, do not encroach over other people’s boundaries, take responsibility for your own actions and learn to cooperate and tolerate.

I grew up in the 1950s and 60s. I do remember what it was like then.
I thought segregation was over. Apparently not. Instead of Each life matters, we’ve divided ourselves in to segregated groups again.
