I remember when poncho ate a whole bag of kibbles…None left over that time.

It’s interesting how selective his knowledge is. Even before birth he had an impressive vocabulary and knew everything about money and finance, yet somehow he doesn’t know the word ‘refrigerator’!

BTW, little colourblind puppy, the fridge and the garbage can are the same colour…

Two points: one - over the last decade we’ve determined that dogs have both rods and cones in their eyes and so are able to see color. The don’t have as many cones as us, so it’s felt that they have a more subdued color sense and see the world in pastels. Lovely, lovely pastels. And two: even if he were colorblind, the ‘grey’ trashcan would be a distinctly different colored than the white fridge. Pedantically yours, ken

I loves me some leftovers. Other people’s of course. I never have any myself.

The concept of leftovers is alien to Poncho!

A difficult concept to dogs. Sort of like “Leftover wine” is to humans.

Poncho has discovered paradise and Chazz will need to discover padlocks.

Not eating all of the food? You have to be kidding me.

Poncho’s inability to grasp the concept of leftovers has been dealt with before:

Chazz: “It’s when you have some food and you can’t finish all of it, and you want to keep the rest for later.”

Poncho: “Your mouth is forming words that I know, but put together in that order they have no meaning.”

And later:

Poncho: “Did you know humans have things called ‘leftovers’?”

Boomer: “What’s that?”

Poncho: “Sometimes they don’t eat all their food, and they save it.”

Boomer: That’s crazy talk. Why would they not eat all their food?”

Poncho: “It doesn’t make sense, but it’s true!”

Boomer: “Look, I’m not an idiot…”

Poncho: “I swear! It really happens!”

“left.. overs”?

Yeeeeah, that concept is lost to Poncho!

My son always agreed with Dennis the Menace: leftovers are left over because nobody wanted them the first time, so NO WAY they will be wanted again. My wife is OK with leftovers, but you can’t eat the same thing two nights in a row, and more than two days after cooking they need to go. I used to eat a lot of previous nights’ suppers for lunch when I was working.
