or why must you, Snoopy, take an afternoon nap when your caretaker plans to burn leaves?

Caretakers don’t care about our rest. And they’re right.

wonder how many places today would allow for the burning of leaf piles.

I still have vivid recollection of me, a mere male of the age of ten, being sent hurriedly into the neighbours yard next door to collect their washing.Mum had lit the the incinerator and fifteen minutes later there was a change of wind direction!Shades of mid-1960s.

I don’t bother burning leaves as i live in a forest and it would be an impossible task, I do burn my burnable garbage, but not glass, metal or plastic. If it’s made of paper, cardboard or wood, it gets burned. When it’s windy the leaves fall so fast it sounds like it’s raining.

Leaves can be tilled into the vegetable garden, used as mulch anywhere, or composted with grass clippings and kitchen scraps. If you have room for the tree, you have room for the leaves. The initial pile is mostly air and will pack down and decay a lot by spring, and there will hardly be a trace left by next fall. If leaves didn’t decay, forests would be almost buried in their own leaves, with just little twigs showing on top. Work with the natural cycles and you will be rewarded by better garden soil.

As a child I used to think Woodstock was a girl with a crush on Snoopy.

Would you rather he do it inside your kennel instead?

    Thought not.
