Training them will take a bit of effort, but after just 3 or 4 month they will be able to do that….

Sort clothes? Other than my wife’s bras, everything goes in cold/cold, medium cycle, extra rinse.

Separate? Why? I toss everything into the same wash, use warm or cold water, color-safe bleach and the wash&wear cycle. Shirts and pants get hung to dry, everything else goes into the dryer. Been doing that for decades, never any problems. Not even color bleed.

Only time I do something different is if I am washing something special like blankets or something that actually is a “delecate” item such as my fleece throw blanket.

Just label the baskets and training is done.

I don’t get separating out towels and pants. The rest of it makes sense, sometimes.

I know “family” sorting is going to be different, but I only do my own laundry and I sort and fold it into piles of what I’m going to use together. A pile of towels and a washrag to replace the set I’m using when it goes into the laundry. Same with sheets and a pillowcase in a pile, and sets of undershirts, underpants, and socks. When I replace anything, it’s already together in a folded pile. All other stuff is not regularly changed, so doesn’t get grouped like that.

I took pictures, and made an illustrated poster just in case my guys ever have to do the laundry. I prefer to do the laundry, really don’t care to have my sons handling my lingerie. Besides, if they had to do the laundry, I’d have an even harder time getting them to put on clean clothes.

That seems like a complex system. I just throw everything in one load and wash with cold water. Whites stay white and everything gets cleaned.

I follow the washing instructions each garment comes with. I often wash bedsheets with clothes calling for the regular cycle. But when it comes to delicates, I separate most of them from the rest that say on their washing instructions NOT to use fabric softener.
