Cheez whiz, Gene. You could at least use the WC, where you have lighting so you can read the paper, electricity for a radio or TV, and maybe even a fan for, well, you know.
LastRoseofSummer, @LadyKat,Perkycat , @Dogsniff, and @pcolli and to all my others friends who might show up,
.
Many, many thanks for remembering me and for your good wishes,
Rose, I’ll take you up on that birthday drink – Make mine a Redbreast single malt Irish, if you please.
Susan, the cake looks great. !
All of you Ballardeers ! Remember, in keeping with long standing tradition, I am having my birthday bash tomorrow, aboard my galleon The Irish Rover® moored momentarily in Ballard Bay, This is an all day until ? affair with lots of food, fun, and fireworks and of course good grog, potent potables, and non-alcoholic beverages , as well !
>
Actually, the party will probably start at some time tonight after the Tiki closes.
I want to thank, again, the people that donated to help me acquire the van.
Yesterday the wife of my mid-day client had a Dr. appointment in Corvallis, and my client asked me to take her, and HIM, to the appointment. So, we took a little road trip.
As road trips go it wasn’t anything special. An hour and a half driving over, a little less than an hour siting in a waiting room, and two hours back.
Two hours because we stopped at a Dairy Queen for a late lunch. That was the high point of the trip.
The reason that i am thanking all of you again is because of the reaction of my client over the whole thing. He was ecstatic. The whole trip. Watching the traffic, and the fall colored trees, and even a stop at a rest area for his wife was the best thing ever.
He couldn’t stop thanking me, with is why i am thanking all you again.
Without YOUR donations to the fund, the trip would not have happened.

Happy Birthday Linguiist!
OK, I know it’s not till tomorrow….
but since the birthdays have to be a bit low-key now… we don’t send invitations…..’
I didn’t know how many people would show up on a Sunday….
so I thought we’d just celebrate all weekend!

Liverlips….
Oh my goodness….
Can you imagine what Gloria would say, if Gene tied up the only bathroom in the house for 6 to 10 hours a day?
I think that was a condition they agreed upon…..
No monopolising any shared accommodations.
His Man Cave isn’t as horrible as one might think……
Not that it’s particularly nice…
But he’s fixed it up with lights, and brought in a lid and a cushion for the seat…
It has a fan, and it’s warm, and private.
You might say it even has its own bathroom facility….
And it gets thoroughly cleaned every other day…..
without Gloria having to do it, or complain.

Ling: May I propose a toast?
May the sun be at your back May the wind fill your sails May the sea be calm and blue.

Looks like a port-a-potty to me. And yes it does appear to be locked from the outside!

Ling… Glad Redkaycei reminded you…..
And thanks, Red!
Cos yeah, you’d be waiting a looong time for the party to start… well, the part of it on the Rover, anyway…
if you waited for the Tiki to close….
The Tiki Bar never closes!
I remember once when something happened, and everybody left, and somebody locked the door….
I wasn’t there to tell them not to….
I got a frantic call from the Monkey cos he’d had a long day of sheriffing, and didn’t have a key …
Neither did I! Or Fenton… or anybody.
It’s his bar. He lives at the Tiki, and he needed to eat and sleep.
Of course, monkeys can break in anyplace, if they want to, so he did.
I still don’t know whether he ever got a key made or just removed all the locks.
And of course, he has a yurt now out back, if he wants to sleep there.
Meanwhile, happy birthday, again. See you later.
