All the more reason not to have ANY reporters in the actual locker rooms. Interviews only in areas set aside for that. And only of those who wish to participate.
Would YOUR boss allow the press to talk to YOU at YOUR desk, during work?
The consistent chant of the sports reporters (male & female) is that they need to get quotes from the players while they are still “HOT”, before they “Cool Down”. If they do not get to them right away and get a controversial quote they would have to put together a thoughtful article.
The longer this series goes on and the more I think about it, a different quarter richly merits the well-placed nudges from the point of Millar’s and Hinds’ pens. The outfit that hired Inez Sainz selected her and choose her public image (clothing, makeup, etc.) She’s an employee in this scenario. To my surprise, I found her interview on ESPN.com, where she downplays the incident kind of hard to watch. (I’m not a guy and I’m not saying she ugly, btw.) It seemed to me her comments were designed to minimize fears of liability on the part of the team, and her employer, who put her in an NFL locker room in provocative dress. As she said, she was just doing her job. Latin norms expected by her viewers may be different, but she’s working in a different culture. I doubt she has any illusions about herself, but she seemed to be trying to go forward as best she could and get through interviews in English. So I’m hoping for some strips w/ word bubbles coming from the board room of Carjakistan State TV to send up the masterminds…
