Even when watching a show I usually like, I turn it off when there are too many annoying commercials. Have found 16 or more commercials in a row when watching a recorded show. Sometimes there are multiple repeats in the same stream.
There was a time, in a galaxy far, far away that one could watch the TV for HOURS and NOT hear a curse word. Some say we have progressed from the oppressive censors……I say I think we went backwards. They forgot that the TV influences society. What a shame. So yes, off is the best channel. Never thought I’d see the day. Oh well.
Using the fast-forward as a timer, Jeopardy has eight minutes of commercials in the half-hour program, and that is not counting those between shows before and after the show itself. Pre-recording has its advantages.

Our TV has been off for almost 20 years. The quiet has been lovely! :o)
