Man: Son, did I ever tell you there was time when we had to get up and walk across the room to change the channel? Boy: Wow. That sounds...awful. Man: Yes. They were dark, dark days. Tv: First down!
^People have been saying that for many generations. Your parents, very possibly.
BTW, the first commercial TV remote was sold in 1950 - theyâve had remote controls almost the entire time theyâve had TVs. Not a lot of folks had them, but they were out there.
Changing the channel wasnât bad, it was going out to rotate the aerial. If you complained, Dad would say, âBack in my day, we didnât have no fancy to the ground poles. You had to climb to the roof on a rotten old wood latter and stand in the rain while the lightning struck all around you.â
I was the remote conrol for my parents. My kids got over big time. The ingrates!!!!!!!!! Please do not forget about rotating antenna.150 ft above the roof!!!!!!!

We had a Zenith Space Commander remote in the early 1960s. Like this one:
My brother gimmickgenius will probably remember this too! Our dad (RIP) enjoyed gadgets, and he would have LOVED the internet.

My uncle had a very early remote controlled TV. My Dad figured out how to jingle coins in his pocket and change the channel. Drove my uncle nuts.
