The origins of the “zombies eating brains” trope didn’t actually appear in media until well after *Romero’s film debuted in the 60′s, first being featured in the 1985 movie, Return of the Living Dead.* By Dan O’Bannon ("Alien) started it all, but they confuse his separate work with Romero’s and for some reason people are not only fascinated by it, but merge the two. In the tv series “iZombie” they eat brains in order to maintain their intelligence. Go too long and they become the ravenous feral monsters and you can’t fix it.
